Chargers bats explode in regular season finale
The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity baseball team qualified for the first round of the Region A baseball tournament and will take on the Essex Trojans, Thursday, May 29, at Henry Ashton Field at Essex High School in Tappahannock. The game starts at 6 p.m.
In the Chargers last regular season game against Tidewater District foe Charles City last week, Nathan Rutkowski led MHS on the mound to a 16-2 victory over the Panthers. He and reliever Thomas Foster held the Panthers to just two runs on two hits.
MHS bats exploded as the Chargers had 12 hits in the game, most in a game this season. Bryson Bulgin paced the Chargers scoring three runs on two hits and two RBIs. Jakub Bowen scored three runs with a hit and reached first on two bases on balls.
