Middlesex County has a new wonderful opportunity for youth and it is called “The Foundry.” What is The Foundry? It is the new nonprofit youth center located in Topping on General Puller Highway. They hosted several open houses and youth nights in November and December 2023, respectively.
Many youths have enjoyed the youth game nights, which will continue the first Friday of each month. Last month, they offered Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. Each was well attended by youth, and they enjoyed playing ping-pong, board games, Uno, chess, pool, air hockey and arcade games. In addition to those, teams were organized and competed in minute-to-win-it games. Snacks and sodas were served, as well as special desserts like ice cream and hot chocolate with all the trimmings.
Starting this week, The Foundry opens their first after-school program and will be ready for middle and high school students to attend on Tuesdays and Fridays. The hours will be from after school to 6 p.m. Presently, they are accepting applications for up to 12 middle school students and 12 high school students. There is a minimal payment for the after-school program students of $49 per month and scholarships are available as needed. “We will start with 24 students and build from there,” said the Rev. Aaron Wells, The Foundry’s director.
On behalf of Aaron and Bonnie Wells, The Foundry and its board of directors, many thanks were extended to a growing list of individuals and organizations that have contributed so far in some way. These individuals include Greg Grichtmeier, Dave Cryer, Cristie Jenkins, Scott Holt, Wade Inge, Terry Kenreigh, Josie Key, Maribel Kimble, Iraida Graves, Ken Cleveland, Ruth Egipciaco, Antonio Graves, Tony Mills, Bella Key,Vincent Wells, Veronica Wells, Serenity Wells and Royce Wells.
