Middlesex’s Chelsey Holmes breaks school’s girls long jump track record

Chelsey Holmes broke the Middlesex High School (MHS) girls long jump record with a winning leap of 18’ 2” at the Tidewater District championship meet at Charles City High School on Thursday, May 16.

Holmes broke the 17’ 8” MHS long jump school record held by Brianna Bagby, who set the record in 2017. Bagby had broken a 35-year-old MHS school record and one of the longest held records in school history by Anita Johnson who set the record of 17’ 7.5” in 1982.

The Chargers and Lady Chargers won the Tidewater District championships as the girls ran away with the meet scoring 185 points and the boys team won its meet in the final event with 148 points.
