MHS SENIOR TRACK ATHLETES HONORED

Girls track team defeats three foes at May 2 quad meet

The Middlesex High School boys and girls track teams competed in a home quad-meet on Thursday, May 2. Among the meet’s highlight was the Senior Track Day recognition of nine MHS seniors on the Chargers John Lemon Memorial Track.

The Lady Chargers defeated the Rappahannock Raiders, King William Cavaliers and King & Queen Central Lady Royal Tigers, while the boys finished second as a team to the Cavaliers.

Boys track

The meet was against Rappahannock of Warsaw, King William and King & Queen Central. The Chargers were paced by double event winner Cameron Lambert who won the 110 high hurdles (16.99) and the 300 intermediate hurdles (42.92).

Other first place winners were Thomas Dobb, who won the 1,600 meters (4:59.94); JaMar Hammond, first, high jump (6’); R. Anderson, first, triple jump (38’ 4”); and the 4 by 800 meter relay was first (9:10.39). The team was composed of Dobb, Gunnar Marston, Darius Jones and Chris Butler.

Girls track

The Lady Chargers were paced by three double winners as E’Mony Jones won the 200 meters (27.65) and 400 meters (1:05.37); Holmes, first, high jump (4’ 6”) and long jump (16’ 06.75); and Iyana Jenkins, first, 100 meter hurdles (17.73) and 300 meter hurdles (51.39). Other winners were Geriyah Cooke in the discus (108’ 9”) and Karadee Anderson tied with Cooke in the shot-put with 33’ 7” throws.

The Chargers and Lady Chargers will travel to Northumberland to take on the Indians today, Thursday, May 9. The meet will start at 4 p.m.
