Thirty-plus vendors, ‘storymobile’ part of DMM Mem Day fun

Blues legend Bobby Messano

As the Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) and Holly Point Nature Park enter the Memorial Day weekend of the 2024 events and 20th anniversary season, DMM offers four public events the weekend of May 25.

  • May Holly Point Market: Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Middlesex County Public Library system’s “Storymobile,”
  • TOGA (Tidewater Oyster Growers Association) spats and aquaculture items
  • The annual Bobby Messano “Welcome to Deltaville” concert 5-8 p.m.

Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park will celebrate Memorial Day weekend with a Saturday morning of shopping, creek cruises and music at the Holly Point Market on May 25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be lots of shopping with arts, crafts, Lions Club brooms, Andersen windows, cheeses, honey and live music in the park with an open mic in the pavilion hosted by local artist O.T. and Sandy Adcock and a host of local talent. You can spend the day walking the park and nature trails, eating great food, lounging around, and hang around for a concert in the evening to celebrate our Memorial Day Saturday, May 25.

The market vendors crank up at 9 a.m. as DMM opens an hour early with donation-only admission 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for the market. The Holly Point Market starts off in style in the arbors and gardens of the DMM maritime park events and waterfront areas. The vendors line the market lanes. Local crafts, art, jewelry, hand-painted glass, natural soaps, quilts, beads, and sweets are all along the line.

Come back to the park around 4 p.m. as the gates open for a wonderful evening of blues/rock music as super-guitarist & no. 1 Billboard blues artist Bobby Messano headlines the Saturday, May 25 Memorial Day weekend “Groovin’ in the Park” concert at the Deltaville Maritime Museum, 6-8 p.m. This is a “bring your own lawn chair, cooler and picnic” event. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Bobby will, of course, be playing his original Deltaville tribute, “Welcome to Deltaville.”
Area favorite keyboard man Ray Pittman leads off for Bobby at 5 p.m. With strong ties to our area, Ray plays a crowd pleasing mix of rhythm and blues, Motown and beach music.
Check it all out at www.deltavillemuseum.com.

Tickets for Groovin’ in the Park are $10 advance and $15 at the door. Get yours at the DMM office, on DMM’s website or at Nauti Nell’s store in Deltaville.
