The Middlesex High School (MHS) baseball team opened its 2023-2024 season having lost several key players to graduation, but the Chargers do have Hudson McMinn returning. As a junior, McMinn was an all-state player on the 2022-2023 Class 1 first baseball team.

McMinn’s hitting was one of the key reasons that the Chargers finished second in Region A play last season and made it all the way to the semi-finals of the Virginia Class 1 tournament.

The Chargers defeated Riverbeds, 3-1, last year in the state tournament and lost to Lebanon in the semi-finals, 4-1. Lebanon went on to win the state title in the finals by beating Auburn, 7-0.

McMinn made all-state as a designated hitter and plays first base for the Chargers this season. Middlesex’s record so far this season (2-7, 2-0 at press time) is not reflective of the talent on the team.
