Carl Edward Vaughan

Carl Edward Vaughan passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024.

He was born June 26, 1937, to the late William and Ethel Vaughan and was raised in Deltaville.

Carl spent his life helping others. He joined the fire department in Deltaville when he was 16 years old. Carl was a member of Zoar Baptist Church, joining at a young age.

Carl was a farmer, growing the best tomatoes and corn. Many times, he left fields of soybeans uncut, because the turkey and deer were feeding there. He loved the many pets he had over his lifetime. He had a special way with all animals. Carl was a huge baseball fan; his favorites were any team on which his son played and the Deltaville Deltas. Car racing was another sport he enjoyed. Days spent with friends and family were the best for Carl. In later years, Carl resided at Walter Reed Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He made many good friends among the staff and patients there. Carl spent as much time as he could in his patio garden, growing vegetables to give away.

Carl is survived by his immediate family, son, Kendall Vaughan; grandson, Easton Tabor; sister, Virginia “Sis” Haywood; and nephew, Sherwood Haywood. He also has a number of extended family.

The family would like to let all those that have been a part of Carl’s life know how much they appreciate the kindness and love shown to Carl throughout his life. You each held a special place in Carl’s heart.

The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. on March 9, at Zoar Baptist Church with the Rev. John Snow officiating. The family received friends from noon until the time of service.

Interment followed at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that Carl would have wanted donations to be made to Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, 16881 General Puller Hwy., Deltaville, VA 23043.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda assisted the family.
