Our beloved husband and father, Charles G. “Gibbie” Mangum Jr., 88, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mavis; his brother, Julian (Peggy); and his children, Chuck (Amy), Pam Lemon (Lew) and Mark Wilburn (Kyp); six grandchildren, Caitlin, Jilly, Mitch, Ally, Tiffany and Brittany; and two great-grandchildren, Rowdy and Logan.
Born Aug. 11, 1935, Gibbie was raised in Richmond and attended John Marshall High School, where he excelled in baseball.
He enjoyed a career in information technology, while also serving in the Virginia National Guard.
After several moves throughout his career, Gibbie retired to Middlesex County, quickly embracing the peaceful simple life of the country and filling his days with his love of golf, his dogs, and hunting, along with involvement with several social organizations.
A celebration of life service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at All Saints Anglican Church in Saluda. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to All Saints or the Hands Across Middlesex food bank.
