The Middlesex County Heritage Committee will conduct a “virtual” town hall-style meeting using Zoom. The meeting is set for 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19. The committee was created to discover and preserve the history of St. Clare Walker High School and Cooks Corner. St. Clare Walker High School, located at Cooks Corner, was the county’s public high school for African Americans during the last years of the county’s segregated school system.

This virtual gathering is being conducted to inform the public of the work of the committee and to solicit participation in that work. The committee is particularly interested in pictures, documents, and artifacts that illuminate the history of St. Clare Walker and Cooks Corner. Plans call for the collection of oral histories from persons who have recollections about the school and its community.

To receive a Zoom invitation for this virtual meeting or for information about the committee, email ppsatter@aol.com or call 804-651-8753.
