MHS soccer boys lose heartbreaker

The Middlesex High School varsity boys soccer team lost a heartbreaker to Northampton High School on Tuesday, May 31, as the Yellow Jackets defeated the top-ranked Chargers, 3-2, in the Region A semifinals at the Syd Thrift Athletic Complex.

The Chargers were 13-2 in the win-loss column going into the game with the two losses at the hands of a strong Nandua High School team. MHS was ranked atop the Region A standings.

It was a heartbreaking end to a season where MHS had hoped to participate in the Virginia State Region 1A soccer tournament. The two Region A teams in the finals of the Region A tournament, Washington and Lee and Northampton both automatically qualify for state.
