Kathy Shackelford Thrift, 68, of Hartfield, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
She was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church and a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department in Water View. Kathy served the citizens of Middlesex County for more than 20 years, culminating with her service as the county treasurer for the last three years. Previously she was employed with Chesapeake Corporation in West Point and Urbanna Auto and Marine.
Kathy’s hobbies included quilting, painting, crafting, music, shopping, singing, playing piano, and spending time with her family, including watching her grandson Landon play sports.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Robert E. and Vivian M. Shackelford. She is survived by her husband, William C. Thrift; daughter, Sherry T. Williams and her husband Wesley; and grandson, Landon Hayes Williams.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel in Saluda. A service to celebrate Kathy’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5 at Hermitage Baptist Church, 94 Ware’s Bridge Road in Church View, with interment following in the church cemetery.
