Council votes to keep current administrator, zoning administrator

by Tom Chillemi –

Following a brief closed session near the end of the Aug. 12 meeting, the Urbanna Town Council voted to make permanent the staff positions of Town Administrator Garth Wheeler and Zoning Administrator Roy Kime.

Both had been hired as interim about six months ago.

Urbanna began 2021 without either position when the previous town administrator resigned in December 2020 and the zoning administrator retired effective Dec. 31, 2020.

“We now have a town that is run by trained and seasoned management professionals and a town attorney who specializes in municipal law,” said Mayor Barbara Hartley at the meeting. The town council recently hired Andrea Erard as the town council’s attorney.
