The Ware Academy Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Dawn Fleet as the next head of school, effective December 1, 2019. The board’s unanimous decision was based on the enthusiastic recommendation of the Head Search Committee, which embarked on a nationwide search process last spring. The Search Committee, assisted by Southern Teachers and the Ware community, exercised due diligence; identified ideal qualities of a head of school for Ware Academy; narrowed a field of 20 candidates to 7 semifinalists; then conducted extensive interviews.
“This process made it clear that Dawn Fleet is the best choice to lead Ware Academy at this important time in school history,” said a school spokesperson.
With over 28 years in education, Fleet has dedicated the past 19 years to Ware Academy. She holds a BS in elementary education and a master’s in curriculum and instruction. She began her career in the classroom, gained administrative experience as academic dean, enrollment/marketing director, and most recently as interim head of school at Ware Academy.
“Dawn tackled some pretty big obstacles over the past few months and handled each challenge with ease and grace. I feel confident that she has the ability to lead our school to new heights. Her love of Ware Academy is evident in all that she does. The school is extremely lucky to have her as our head of school,” said Ware Academy Board President Vicky Gunn.
