Quilts presented at Clarksbury

Showing off Quilt of Valor quilts at Clarksbury United Methodist Church (CUMC) in Hardyville Sunday are, from left, the Rev. Ken Cleveland, CUMC pastor, Donna Swanson and Joe Street.

Donna Swanson, from New Hampshire, led a ceremony during CUMC’s morning worship service to award some of the quilts to two deserving service members who had been nominated. The honorees were Pastor Cleveland and Street, both of whom served in the U.S. Navy.

A Quilt of Valor quilt is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a service member or veteran who has been touched by war. The quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” (Contributed)
