Candidates starting to qualify to run for MC seats up for grabs

On the ballot for the Nov. 2 General Election are the Saluda and Hartfield district seats on the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors and the Middlesex School Board. There is also a special election to choose a Middlesex Circuit Court clerk.

Don R. Harris of Stormont and Greg R. Chambers of Remlik have qualified as candidates running for the Saluda District seat on the Middlesex Board of Supervisors, reported Melissa D. Welch, Middlesex director of elections and general registrar. Harris was the first person to complete the candidacy process for a local seat. Current Saluda District representative Pete Mansfield has said he will not seek re-election.

Welch said incumbent John B. Koontz Jr., who represents the Hartfield District on the Middlesex Board of Supervisors, has begun the candidacy process but has not filed all qualifying forms.

As of Tuesday, no one has begun the process to be a candidate for either the Saluda or Hartfield district school board seats or for the special election for Clerk of the Middlesex Circuit Court…
