Heritage Committee hopes to save  historic Cooks Corner building

Next to the Cooks Corner Office Complex stands an old wooden structure that was once the agriculture and vocational building for the former St. Clare Walker High School for African Americans.

The Heritage Committee is committed to preserving the building, said Project Manager Patricia P. Satterfield of Topping.

“The building, the underlying history of which is still being explored, must be preserved,” said Satterfield. “It is a visible legacy of a significant aspect of the educational experience of African-American students in Middlesex County and the source of many memories.”
