Ann Pearl (McGill) Harrod was born Dec. 2, 1946, the youngest daughter of the late Thomas and Cylister McGill.
She received the call of the Lord on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Harrod; her parents, Thomas and Cylister McGill; stepson, Avon Harrod; stepdaughter, Christine Harrod; her sisters, Shirley McGill and Delight Jackson; and her brothers, Thomas Jr. (Kitty), Earnest Scott, Earl Frances (Jimpsy) and George McGill.
Ann was raised in Church View, where at an early age she was baptized and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church. She was a graduate of St. Clare Walker High School Class of 1965.
Ann joined in marriage to her late husband William J. Harrod in 1970 and gained his children. She moved to Yorktown and they had one son, Andre Scott. She became a member of Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove, Yorktown.
Loving memories will be treasured by her sons, Andre (Scotty) Harrod of Newport News and Larry T. Harrod of Pennsylvania, daughter-in-law, Cecelia Harrod; grandsons, Larry Harrod II and William Harrod; granddaughters, Krystal and Jasmine Harrod, great-granddaughter, Mya Harrod of Maryland; brother-in-law, Clarence “Dickie” Jackson of West Point; sister-in-law, Thelma Griffin of Yorktown; aunt, Tula B. Johnson of New York, N.Y.; goddaughter, Cadeidra Morgan; special friend, Gloria Jones; and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at Whiting’s Funeral Home Chapel, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg.
