YMCA Youth Soccer
The Middlesex Family YMCA soccer teams competed in their respected fall soccer tournaments on November 2.
The 6-8 year old age group competed in a round-robin tournament in Mathews County. Neal Barber’s team, sponsored by Cooks Corner Car Wash did well in the tournament with a 1-1 record. Neal was very proud of his kids and the progress they have made throughout the season.
John Polson’s team, sponsored by Gloucester Pharmacy, came out winners in both of their games. John was elated with how the kids played, especially in the second game and cannot wait to see them progress further in the spring.
Jonathan Berry’s team was unable to attend the tournament due to Oyster Festival obligations.
The Middlesex Family YMCA would like to thank all the 6-8 soccer coaches for their hard work and time they give to the youth of this wonderful community.
The Northern Neck Y hosted the 9-11 year old tournament where the Middlesex Rovers, coached by Chuck Johnson and John Polson and sponsored by Colonial Pizza, gave a strong performance for the young team. “I was very proud at how well the team has come together this season. They always show class and sportsmanship on the field,” said Coach Johnson.
Chuck has been coaching with the Middlesex Family Y for over five years now. Each spring and fall soccer season, he is a key part of the Y’s soccer program. Chuck loves to get the kids moving and teach them how to play the great game of soccer. Thanks to all our sponsors and volunteers.
