W&L hands MHS girls first defeat

The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team lost at Washington and Lee on August 30.

“W&L is, in my opinion, one of the two best teams we will face this year,” said Lady Charger coach Brian Walton. “I was pleased that we played them pretty tough in their house!”

The Lady Chargers (4-1) had defeated W&L in a preseason scrimmage.

Laura Walton led Lady Charger servers, making 100% with 4 aces. She also had 20 assists, 5 digs and 1 kill.

Elizabeth Ketner added 3 aces and 9 kills. Ariana Beverly had 6 kills and 2 digs. Ellie McMinn had 1 ace and 2 kills. Sarah Walton had 1 ace, 7 kills and 6 digs. Mackenzie Bristow had 6 kills and 2 digs. Kayla Paulos had 1 ace, 1 kill and 3 digs.

The JV plays at 5:30 p.m and the varsity plays at 7 p.m.
