Volleyball Senior Night set for Tuesday at MHS

The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team won a close match against visiting West Point on October 15. Middlesex won the first two games 25-18 and 25-14. West Point got back in the match with a 25-22 win in game three, before Middlesex claimed victory with a 25-22 win in game four.

“We moved really well on the court during the first and second games,” said Middlesex coach Jennifer Harrow. “Chelsea Lewter covered the court well.”  

A change-up in the lineup during the third game “threw off the girls,” Harrow said, and her team “had to put up a harder fight” to get the win in the fourth game. 

For Middlesex, Kelsey Hainley had 8 aces, 12 digs, 14 assists and 11 kills; Jillien Puster, 4 aces, 8 digs, 13 assists, 9 kills; Hayley Guess, 4 aces, 5 digs, 4 kills; Raquel Pierce, 1 ace, 9 digs, 4 kills; Maggie Hall, 5 aces, 11 digs, 7 kills; Chelsea Lewter, 1 ace, 9 digs, 1 assist; Caroline Davis, 1 dig, 1 assist, 1 kill; Allyson Sharpe, 4 digs; Joey Stinchcomb, 1 ace, 1 dig; Ashley Lane, 2 digs, 2 kills; Jessica Dixon, 1 dig, 2 assists, 1 kill; and Megan Payne, 1 dig, 1 kill.

The Lady Chargers are now 4-1 in the Tidewater District and 10-3 overall. They are at King William Thursday, October 22, and will host King and Queen on Tuesday, October 27, in their final home game, which also is Senior Night at MHS.

On October 29 in the regular season finale, Middlesex is at Mathews, which is undefeated in district play.

JV games are at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
