Two former MHS stars lead RCC Gulls to win

The Rappahannock Community College women’s softball team, the Gulls, opened its 2013 season on February 18 by splitting a doubleheader with Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) of Largo, Maryland, in Richmond. PGCC won the first game 4-2, and the Gulls won the second game 10-3.
RCC pitcher Alex Clark struck out 13 players in game one, and surrendered her only two hits of the game in the 7th inning with two outs and the score tied at 2-2.
In game two, Ebony Tunstall had an excellent offensive afternoon with 5 hits in 7 trips to the plate, including an inside-the-park grand slam.
Former Middlesex High star Chelsi Blake hit a double in addition to an over-the-fence 2-run home run.
Former Lady Charger pitcher Megan Payne secured the win, allowing 3 hits with 7 strikeouts and no walks.
Future home games will be held on the Elizabeth Hinton Crowther Field, next to the Warsaw Campus tennis courts, on Saturday, March 9, 16, and 30. Also on Wednesday, April 3, 2 and 4 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2 and 4 p.m. All home games are doubleheaders, and all will be played at 1 and 3 p.m. except where otherwise noted.
