Boy Scout Troop 341 participated in the Rivers District 2018 Amazing Race held in Essex County on the weekend of March 23-25. More than 130 Scouts and leaders met to enjoy this annual event. This year’s theme was “Highland Games” and the Scouts spent the weekend competing against Scouts from other troops in traditional Scottish competitions.

This annual event included an orienteering course on Saturday where Scouts used maps and compasses to find six different stations throughout the woods. Saturday’s competitions included such activities as Braemar stone put, storming the castle (lashing a ladder), log drag and golf, flodh gearradh (2-handed bucksaw), battle axe throw, and long bow. Following the traditional barbecue feast put on by Jerry Lindsey of Troop 341, Saturday evening concluded with the Scouts performing skits and enjoying the stories, songs and ditties of former Troop 303 Scoutmaster Mike Wallace.

Boy Scout Troop 341 is chartered by Christ Church Parish adjacent to Christchurch School, three miles east of Saluda, and meets Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. Anyone interested in joining Troop 341 may call 758-3620.
