Three Charger wrestlers advance to state tourney

The Middlesex High School wrestling team finished eighth in Region A competition on Sunday and Monday, February 10-11, at Northampton High School on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.

Northampton High School won the team competition with 210 points; King William, second, 182 points and Lancaster was third with 168 points. The Chargers finished eighth with 95 points.

Vladimir Rowe won first place in the heavyweight division and became only the fourth MHS wrestler in school history to win a Region A title. The others were Camron Wines, Conrad Maszack and Corey Keeling.
Along with Rowe, Ridge Ellis and Devante Robertson qualified for the Virginia State Meet that will be held this weekend at the Salem Civic Center in Salem.

Ellis finished third in the 132-pound class and Robertson was fourth in the 138-pound division. Jonathan Ward was fifth in the 106-pound division and Steve Skelton was fifth in the 220-pound class. Enrique Gonzales finished sixth in the 113-pound class.
