St. Margaret’s to host inaugural Scottie Plunge

St. Margaret’s School (SMS) in Tappahannock will host the Scottie Plunge, a fundraising event on the Rappahannock River at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, along with a chili cook-off and bake-off. The proceeds will benefit the SMS Parent Council, which supports school life and student activities on campus.

Karen Berry, parent council president, commented, “We put together the Scottie Plunge for 2019, hoping it will become a yearly event for the entire community, not just St. Margaret’s. We want the community to come to campus, enjoy the riverfront, meet the girls and faculty and, most importantly, have some fun!”

Registration starts at $50 to take the plunge. If you don’t want to plunge yourself, you can participate by supporting a plunger, or simply make a donation. All donations of any size are welcome and the public is invited to join the festivities. “Bundle up for a day of fun on the riverfront at St. Margaret’s with music, hot drinks to keep warm, good food, and great community,” said Berry.

After the plunge, the fun continues into the evening with a chili cook-off and a bake-off. Chili entries must be at least four quarts in volume. Bake-off entries must be a cake, pie, or cookie/dessert bar. The chili cook-off winner will be decided by popular vote. The bake-off winner will be decided by a panel of judges.
