Skilled angler

imageKatherine Campbell, 7, of Church View received a Junior Virginia Angler Award from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament for the 2009 season. The Junior Angler program is for children up to age 15 and is designed to encourage catch-and-release fishing. To qualify for the award, a child must catch six different species of saltwater fish and release them.

The program is free and runs from January 1 to December 31 each year. Application cards are available at most area tackle shops. Katherine’s catches included croaker, perch, spot, stingray, flounder, toadfish and a small shark.   She is the daughter of Joey and Sarah Campbell.
