With the best team finish in school history, the Middlesex High wrestling team finished fourth in the Region A Tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 14-15, and had six wrestlers qualify for the State Group A Meet that will be held at the Salem Civic Center on Friday and Saturday, February 21-22.

Simon Urban won the Region A title in the 132-pound weight class and was the only Charger wrestler to capture a first place. Stephen Skelton captured second place in the 220-pound class, and Enrique Gonzalez took second place in the 113-pound class.

The top four wrestlers in each weight class qualify for the state meet. Others who will be going to state are Ridge Ellis, third, 138-pound weight class; Devante Robertson, fourth, 145-pound weight class; and Elijah Fomin, fourth, 120-pound class.

“Our MHS grapplers did an amazing job and I’m extremely proud of all of them. We’re looking forward to the state tournament,” said MHS coach Joel Anderson. “With our fourth place team finish, we finished three places higher than we have ever placed before.”

Other Charger wrestlers to participate in the Region A meet were Hamza Ali, Marshall Shermer, Chad Page, James Williams, Alek Fomin, Hughes Nelson and Brian Hollingshead.
