Shores qualifies for all-star swim meet

Breaststroke specialist Taylor Shores of Urbanna
At the Virginia Swimming Age Group Championship meet at the Newport News Midtown Aquatics Center held July 30-August 2, Taylor Shores of Urbanna qualified for the Virginia Swimming Zone All-Star Swimming Team.

The all-star team consists of the top two swimmers in Virginia in each age group (10 and younger, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18 year olds) in each distance and competitive stroke. Shores qualified for the Zone Team by finishing second in the state of Virginia in the 11-12 year old 50-meter breaststroke.

The United States is divided into four zones. Virginia is a member of the Eastern Zone consisting of states/metro areas from Virginia in the South to Maine in the North, and extending as far west as Pittsburgh, Pa. The zone competition will be held at Penn State University August 12-15. The Virginia team will compete against 13 other zone all-star teams.

Shores is a member of South Eastern Virginia Aquatics (SEVA). SEVA is a 90-member team with swimmers from the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula and Peninsula. Many of these swimmers practice at the Northern Neck YMCA and the Urbanna Pool.

Shores is the daughter of Jill and Larry Shores Jr.
