Seahorses to field girls lacrosse team

Christchurch School athletic director Vince Smith has announced that the Seahorses will add girls lacrosse to its slate of teams for the 2013-14 school year.

“The addition of girls lacrosse is an exciting one for Christchurch School. As a community, we were looking for another athletic activity for our female students and lacrosse seemed like the perfect fit,” said Smith.

The team will support and nurture those with prior lacrosse experience as well as those who are new to the game of lacrosse, often described as “the fastest sport on two feet.”

Sara Forbes, captain of the 2012-13 NCAA Division III Denison (OH) University women’s lacrosse team, will coach the team and teach Spanish in the classroom.

From Farmington Hills, Mich., Forbes was a Spanish and international studies major at Denison.

She was inspired to teach and coach through her experience working with the Denison University Tutoring Program, coaching at lacrosse camps, and studying abroad in Chile.

To learn more, contact Vince Smith at 758-2306, ext. 166.
