Seahorses finish 2nd in Soucek Tournament

Christchurch goal keeper Avery Shivers, ’18 of White Stone, leaps high to stop a shot.

Marcie Soucek Eberline ’00 and Andrew Soucek were on the sidelines of the 20th Jason Soucek ‘92 Memorial Soccer Tournament to honor their brother, Jason, on a weekend of perfect weather, great soccer and good sportsmanship. On Saturday, Eberline and Soucek presented trophies to the tournament champion St. Christophers’ School of Richmond, and to runner-up and tournament host Christchurch School.

Other schools in the tournament were Hampton Roads Academy of Newport News, Trinity School at Meadow View of Falls Church, Carlisle School of Martinsville, Eastern Mennonite High School of Harrisonburg, Atlantic Shores Christian School of Chesapeake, and St. Christopher’s School of Richmond.

On their way to second place in the tournament, Christchurch School ripped Atlantic Shores 7-1 and blanked Trinity Episcopal 1-0, before losing to St. Christopher’s School 3-0 in the title match on Nunn Field.

The Seahorses are coached by Matt Schaefer and Justin Cook.
