Seahawks win final two games

The St. Clare Walker Middle School boys basketball team finished its season by defeating Ware Academy 49-22 on January 30, and winning a 42-39 thriller against Aylett on February 1.

Mike Hammond led the Seahawks’ balanced attack with 13 points against Ware while Geion Reed had 10 points. Also for the Seahawks, Montrell Oakley scored 7 points, Malachi Dandy 6 and Thomas Roane 5. With 2 points each were Jayden Kidd, Charles Randall, Xzavion Griffin and Kolby Moore.
Hammond poured in 21 points to lead the Seahawks over Aylett. Malachi Dandy added 9 points, Monrell Oakley had 7, Xzavion Griffin 4, and Geion Reed 1.

The Seahawks finished the season with a 5-3 record. “I am proud of what these young men accomplished this year,” said Seahawk coach Tim Blake. “I saw great improvement in the team as the season progressed. We had limited practice space and practice time, but through it all they found a way to win!”
