Rockfish tournament set for November 23
The Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department has announced its 10th annual Casey Neal Rogers (CNR) Memorial Rockfish Tournament will be held Saturday, November 23, at Smith Point Marina in Reedville.
Registration and a captains’ briefing will be held Friday, November 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Smith Point Marina. There will be door prizes along with food, beverages, tournament t-shirts and vendors.
Tournament fishing will begin at 7 a.m., out of any port, and will end at 3 p.m. The weighmaster will accept fish at Smith Point Marina, but fishermen may also turn their catch in at Buzzard’s Point Marina in Reedville and, new this year, fish may also be dropped off at Norview Marina on Broad Creek in Deltaville.
The awards ceremony will immediately follow the tournament at Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department starting at 6 p.m. Dinner will be catered this year by Fred’s BBQ & Ribs along with cold beverages. Entertainment will be provided by Kasey Rae Meeks, accompanied by DJ Steve Gordon. Please note this is open to the public and the barbecue will be sold by the plate.
There also will be a silent and live auction. Winners will be drawn for the annual raffle. Raffle tickets can be purchased from any committee members from now until the tournament is held. Prizes include a cash prize of $250, a chartered fishing trip with Capt.Woody Robinson aboard “Sharon’s Song,” Oakley sunglasses, an iPod, a Release rod and reel, and a Kindle Fire.
The tournament entry fee is $150. Entry forms may be obtained through the website.
The CNR Tournament will pay six places this year, have a big fish Calcutta, and also youth and lady angler prizes. All proceeds will benefit the CNR Memorial Scholarship Fund and Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department.
