Registration open for Kekoka Yoga Retreat

The eighth annual Kekoka Yoga Retreat (KYR) will take place May 19 through 21 at YMCA/APYC Camp Kekoka, 1083 Boys Camp Road, Kilmarnock, announced retreat chairman Susan Johnson. The theme will be “Peace . . . Pass It On.”

The retreat fee is $175 and includes lodging, farm-to-table meals, yoga for all levels, meditation, speakers, music and water activities. Proceeds help provide scholarships to YMCA/APYC Camp Kekoka summer campers. The schedule is well-rounded and exciting, with an eclectic roster of instructors offering an array of classes, said Johnson. “Whether you’re brand new to yoga or have been practicing for years, there will be a class for you,” said Johnson.

Instructors will include Johnson, Childress, Wyatt Portz, Jennifer Rose Smith, Brad Grinnen, Jenny Landry, Anna Pomaska, Shelle Taylor, Ginger Houck, Diana Jamison, Kathleen Litos, Steve Kuehl, Dallas Scales, Peny Galloghy, Wendy Phillips, Bonnijean Boggess and Michelle Moriarty.

Camp Kekoka is a residence camp for ages 8 to 15. It is on 97 acres of waterfront at the end of Boys Camp Road. The campers learn to sail, wind surf, kayak, water ski, and much more, all in a safe environment based on the YMCA character values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty. As with all YMCA’s, no one is ever turned away for inability to pay.

“I love the relaxed atmosphere, the friendly staff and instructors, and that there’s no pressure to attend every session,” said Gina Mathias.

For reservations, visit, or contact camp director Cassie Leichty, , or 435-3616.
