The Middlesex High School girls track team captured second place Saturday in the King William (Bob Murray) Invitational at King William High School.

King William won with 173 points; Middlesex was second with 114 points; Windsor, third, 98; Lancaster, fourth, 44; King and Queen, fifth, 27; and Northumberland, sixth, 20.

Middlesex was without two key performers. Freshman distance ace Missy Hall was sidelined with a heel injury, and senior throw specialist Ashae Burnett was at a basketball clinic. Hall is the team’s top middle and distance runner and Burnett is the top discus thrower.

The Lady Chargers were paced by Micah Reed with 34 points. She won three events—the discus (80’5”), shot put (30’10”) and high jump (3’11”), and finished fifth in the long jump (12’4”).

Rebecca Walker finished first in the 800 meters (2:49), first in the triple jump (25’7”) and second in the 1600 meters (6:08.5) to score 28 points.

Olivia Cloud won the 3200 meters (13:44), and Stephanie Hutton finished third in the 800 meters (3:00) and fourth in the 1600 meters (6:30).

Drachele Johnson was second in the shot put (27’11”); Felica Marsh finished third in the 400 meters (1:17); Jherrica Marsh was fifth in the 400 meters (1:23); Davina Peters was fifth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (1:02) and sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles (21.49).

The Lady Chargers’ April 22 meet against Northumberland was canceled. Middlesex will compete against Essex and Lancaster at Lancaster on Wednesday, April 29.
