Pitching his way into Dickinson baseball history
The Dickinson College baseball team had four players earn spots on the 2014 All-Centennial Conference Baseball Team, including former Middlesex High School standout Harley Moore.
Moore was one of the aces of the Devils’ pitching staff. He posted a 6-0 record, making nine appearances and throwing 56 innings. He tied the school record with 11.09 strikeouts per nine innings and held opponents to a batting average of a mere .190. In his career at Dickinson, Moore averages 10.09 strikeouts per nine innings, second on the all-time Dickinson College list.
The southpaw had an ERA of 1.93, the fourth best single season ERA in Dickinson baseball history, while lowering his program-best ERA of 2.98 for his career. He ranks fifth all-time with 176 strikeouts, and is in the top 10 for career innings pitched, complete games, shutouts, wins and runners picked-off.
Moore ranked third in the conference in strikeouts, and fifth in ERA. The Red Devils’ pitching staff finished the year ranked eighth nationally in strikeouts per nine innings at 8.4, and 55th in ERA.
Moore ranked 20th in the country in strikeouts per nine innings.
Dickinson finished 22-12-1 on the season for the second-best record in school history, and the third time in the last four years the Red Devils have won more than 20 games.
