The Middlesex High School (MHS) girls track team was paced by Brittin Payne in a quad-meet last Thursday at King William High School against the Lady Cavaliers, Rappahannock and Lancaster.
Payne was the only first-place winner for the Lady Chargers, capturing the shot put (31’4”) and tying for fourth in the discus (75’2.5”) with Sylvia Monroe of MHS.
Distance ace Leigh Harrow finished second in the 1600 meters (6:13); Molly Brown, third, 400 meters (1:14), and fourth, 1600 meters (6:55); Zinnie Reed, third, shot put (28’7”); Celine Coridass, fourth in both the long jump (12’5.5”) and triple jump (24’9”); Emily Sheppard, fourth, 200 meters (35.2); and Andres Rowe, fourth, 400 meters (1:22).
“It was a very cold day but our girls did outstanding,” said Middlesex coach Joel Anderson. “Both the boys and girls have great potential.”
The Lady Chargers will travel to Charles City Thursday, April 3, to take on the Lady Panthers at 4:30 p.m.
