All season the Middlesex Colts Mighty Mites (ages 8-9) squad played tough competitive football against some of the best teams in the Peninsula Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization. This Colt team practiced hard, fought hard in each game, and always gave 100% effort.

This past Saturday in Saluda, the Colts Mighty Mites were rewarded for their season-long efforts by routing the Tri Rivers (West Point) Titans 27-13. Adam Smith led the young Colts with a personal best 3 touchdown runs. Smith scored his touchdowns on a 2-yard run, a 16-yard run, and an electrifying 54-yard kickoff return.

Also scoring for the Colts were Daniel Smith on a 2-yard plunge and conversion, and rugged Jacob Marx, who rumbled in to score another conversion.

Head coach Tony Pullman stated, “I really enjoyed the victory and I was especially proud of how well Phillip Hart and Logan West played on defense. Offensively, Jacob Marx, Tyler Price and Jackson Putt all played their best game of the season.”

In the Mites (6-7 year olds) game, the high-scoring Colts thrashed the Titans 45-0. The Colts stampede were led by “Mini Rocket” Marcus Billips who shot through the Titan defense for touchdown runs of 47, 48 and 51 yards. Xzavion Griffen continued his season-long performance by galloping for 2 touchdowns. Isaiah Uriri added another touchdown on a 43-yard run to give Uriri 17 touchdowns for the season. Jayden Kidd streaked down the sideline for a 79-yard touchdown run and also scored 2 conversions. Kalob Knight tallied another conversion to complete the scoring for the Colts.

Head coach Michael Reed was very impressed with his multi-talented team’s performance. “This team was a playoff caliber team. Unfortunately, we lost a couple of games by a few points. I am very proud of my boys and wish them the best moving up to the Mighty Mites division,” said Reed.

In the Midget Division (10-11 year olds), the Colts were defeated 20-12 by the Titans in a tough competitive game. Iny Redmond and Anthony Pullman both scored rushing touchdowns for the Colts.

In the Junior Division (12-14 year olds), the Colts were defeated 50-25 by a playoff-bound Gloucester White squad. Monte’ Sutton turned in a season best 3 rushing touchdowns. Jared Lawson added another rushing touchdown, and Jordan Blake scored on a conversion to complete the scoring for the Junior Colts.
