Middlesex Youth Basketball League action begins Saturday January 9

The Middlesex Youth Basketball League will open its 34th season on Saturday, January 9, with Junior and Senior Division dress scrimmages at Middlesex High School, and Starter Division games at Middlesex Elementary.

The Girls Division (ages 9-14) consists of five teams—The Allen Group, Carlton & Edwards, Hurd’s Hardware, Little Sue and expansion team Walton’s Body Shop.

The Junior Boys Division (ages 9-11)  has four teams—Southside Sentinel, Ryman’s Heating/AC, Thrift Oil and Pitts Lumber Company.

The Senior Boys Division (ages 11-14) has four teams—Doc Jones Used Auto Parts, Harrow’s Home Center, Marshall’s Drug and EASI Printing. 

The Starter League (ages 6-8) also will open its season on Saturday, January 9, with regular season games at Middlesex Elementary School. The teams in the league are The Wet Paint Co., Middlesex Rotary Club, Lawyers Title, Virginia Street Cafe and Comfort Inn.

This schedule for this Saturday, January 9 is as follows:

Scrimmages - Junior and Senior Divisions at Middlesex High School

  • 8:45 a.m.—Pitts Lumber v. Thrift Oil
  • 9:55 a.m.—Southside Sentinel v. Ryman’s Heating/AC
  • 11:05 a.m.—Carlton & Edwards v. Hurd’s Hardware
  • 11:40 a.m.—Little Sue v. Walton’s Body Shop
  • 12:15 p.m.—Allen Group v. Carlton & Edwards
  • 12:50 p.m.—Hurd’s Hardware v. Little Sue
  • 1:20 p.m.—Walton’s Body Shop v. Allen Group
  • 1:50 p.m.—Doc Jones UAP v. EASI Printing
  • 3 p.m.—Marshall’s Drug v. Harrow’s Home Center

Starter Division Games at Middlesex Elementary School

  • 9 a.m.—Comfort Inn v. Lawyers Title
  • 10:10 a.m.—Wet Paint Co. v. Virginia Street Cafe (Rotary Club off)
