Middlesex wins 1 game in Junior League tourney

The Middlesex Junior League All-Stars (ages 13-14) won 10-9 against Spotsylvania before losing 2-1 to Northumberland and 15-2 to Caroline in the recent District 15 Little League Tournament.

Winning pitcher Alex Fitchett held Spotsylvania to 1 hit and struck out 9 through 5 innings in Middlesex’s 10-9 win.

Vance Medina took the mound in relief and got the save.

Chris Blake was 2 for 3, scored and drove in 2 runs to lead the Middlesex offense. Also for Middlesex, Alex Fitchett, 1-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 2 stolen bases (SB); Matt Horne, 1-3, a run, 3 RBIs; D’Angelo King, 3 walks, 3 runs, 4 SB.

Middlesex could muster only 2 hits and stranded 10 base runners in the 2-1 loss to Northumberland. 

Hits were recorded by Blake and Chris Powell.

Middlesex’s starting pitcher Austin Revere gave up 4 hits and 1 run, and struck out 6 in 4 innings. Blake struck out 4 in 3 innings on the mound, and allowed 3 hits and 1 run.

King’s double and Fitchett’s single led to the only scores for Middlesex in the 15-2 loss to Caroline. Both King and Fitchett stole a base.

“Caroline was just a better team,” said Middlesex coach Joey Fitchett. “We came out flat, made 5 errors in the first inning, and we could never get going as a team.”
