Middlesex Seniors finish 4th out of 14 teams at state tournament

by Tom Chillemi

The Middlesex Little League Senior All-Stars baseball team finished fourth in the State Tournament. Middlesex was eliminated by Front Royal, 3-0 on July 15.

DTQ of District 9 won the championship, defeating Phoebus 9-2 on July 16.

Middlesex finished the season 15-2, with its only two losses coming in the state tournament.

With just 11 players, Middlesex had the shortest roster in the tournament. “It was a team effort,” Fitchett said. “I had kids that played errorless baseball in the tournament. It was amazing to watch these kids step up.”

Coach Fitchett gave a special thanks to Middlesex County Little League President Craig Revere “who made everything possible for us go to states.”

He also thanked all who supported the team throughout the season. “We had the biggest cheering section at the state tournament.”
