Middlesex Juniors end regular season with two wins

The Middlesex Little League Junior Boys team (ages 13-14) closed out its regular season this week with wins over Mathews and Northumberland.

On June 7, Middlesex defeated Mathews 14-4. Joe Sears picked up the win on the mound. The game was close until the fifth inning when Middlesex scored 7 unanswered runs. 

Hitting and leading Middlesex were Pierce Lambert with 2 doubles, Joe Sears and Michael Barney with 2 hits each, and Owen Miller, who reached base 3 times.

On June 10, Middlesex defeated Northumberland 9-3. Michael Barney pitched a 6-hit complete game and had 11 strikeouts.

Joshua South drove in 2 runs with 2 hits, and Joe Sears, Linton Robins, Nick Daddario and Owen Miller each had run-scoring hits. 

“The guys have really shown improvement the last several games and we look forward to the upcoming tournament,” said coach Johnny Fleet. 

The District 15 Junior Boys Tournament will start June 24 in Kilmarnock. Middlesex will play Spotsylvania at 1 p.m. More details will be in next week’s Sentinel.
