Middlesex harriers finish second

The Middlesex High School boys and girls cross country teams finished second on October 3 in a quad-meet at Rappahannock Community College-Glenns.
Mathews won the boys team competition with 20 points; Middlesex was second with 69; Northumberland, third, 86; and Christchurch, fourth, 100.
Charger Ridge Ellis won the overall individual competition with a time of 18:45; Patrick Perry was 11th, 20:46; Jacob Self, 13th, 20:49; Kyle Forst, 17th, 21:20; and Malik Green, 24th, 22:40.
Mathews also won the girls competition with 19 points; the Lady Chargers were second with 54 points; and Northumberland and Christchurch did not have enough girls to field a five-member team.
Leigh Harrow fell down during the race but was still able to finish third overall for Middlesex with a time of 24:09; Shannon Bristow was 9th, 26:56; Grace Rutkowski, 12th, 29:43; Amber Clark, 16th, 36:19; and Andri Rowe, 17th, 36:24.
On Saturday, the two MHS teams ran in the Panther Cross-Country Invitational at Bruton High School in Williamsburg. Ellis finished 9th in the boys race with a time of 17:46, and Harrow was 10th in the girls race with a time of 22:59. Both runners received medals.
