The Middlesex Chargers’ basketball season started to unravel in the third quarter of the semifinal game of the Conference 42 Tournament on Friday at Mathews.

The Chargers seized a commanding 28-14 halftime lead, but the Blue Devils rallied to outscore MHS 19-4 in the first six minutes of the third quarter to take a 33-32 lead.

After that, it was all downhill for the Chargers as Mathews won 64-57.

Mathews defeated West Point 40-39 to win the conference championship on Saturday.

The Chargers finished the season with a 10-11 record.
