MHS varsity loses two district matches

The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team slipped to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the Tidewater District with losses to West Point and King William in recent action.

West Point swept the Lady Chargers 27-25, 25-18 and 26-24 in their Tidewater District opener on September 23. The Lady Pointers won two of three games in overtime,
On Tuesday at MHS, Middlesex fell to district foe King William in four games. The Lady Cavaliers took game one 25-22. MHS rebounded to win the second game 25-10 behind Kelsey Hainley, who slammed consecutive serves for the final 11 points.

King William took the final two games 25-17 and 25-22.

The Lady Chargers play three district matches over the next eight days. They are at King and Queen today, October 2; they host Mathews on Tuesday, October 7; and host West Point on Thursday, October 9.

Coach Jennifer Harrow said her team has athletic ability but needs consistency. Now that the Lady Chargers are into the district season, playing as a team is even more important, said Harrow, who hopes to motivate her team to a higher level.
