MHS JVs win twice; to host King William Friday

The Middlesex High School Lady Chargers JV basketball team posted convincing wins to open the season, but lost 29-19 to Lancaster on Tuesday night.

On November 28 Middlesex defeated host Colonial Beach Drifters 29-18. The JV Lady Chargers trailed 6-5 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Lady Drifters 8-2 in the second quarter for a 13-8 lead at halftime. 

Colonial Beach held Middlesex to 4 points in the third quarter but Middlesex led 17-15 going into the fourth quarter. In the final period, the Lady Chargers gave the Lady Drifters a different look on defense and forced several turnovers and outscored them 12-3 for the 29-18 win.

For Middlesex, Aniyah Thompson lead the way with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals; Allison Blake, 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals; Makayla Oliver, 4 points, rebound, 3 steals; Haley Muza, 3 points, 2 rebounds, steal; Ruth Anne Key, 2 points, rebound; Kaydence Congleton, 5 rebounds, 2 steals; and Marissa Halbig, one assist.
