The Middlesex High School JV boys basketball team won two more Tidewater District games this week to raise its district record to 4-0 and overall mark to 7-5.

The Chargers defeated Mathews 66-36 on Friday. Marquez Holmes scored 18 points in the win; D’Angelo King had 10; Monte Sutton, 9; Brad Gills and Shakeim Page, 6 apiece; Chris Blake and Jacob Self, 4 each; Andre Johnson, 3; and Desmond King, Ja’Mel Reed and Sean Johnson, 2 points apiece.

The Chargers downed the West Point 36-20 on Monday. Self was the high scorer for MHS with 11 points; Holmes had 10; Sutton, 5; King, 4; and Reed, Blake and Gills, 2 apiece.

“We got through the first round of district play without a loss,” said MHS coach Jason Williams. “The boys have their eyes on the prize—to win the district title.”

Middlesex will host King William on Tuesday, January 22, and will travel to King and Queen on Friday, January 25. JV games start at 6 p.m.
