MHS JVs get first win

“The girls played a great game. They were moving to the ball, making strong passes, and we did not have many service errors,” said MHS coach Ashland Burch.
Winning requires good passes, said Burch. “That has been our weakness in the other games, it was like the girls had heavy feet. I am really proud of their chemistry on the court.”
Allison Payne started for the Lady Chargers and did an excellent job the entire night, said Burch. “Allison really has the best passing fundamental form of all of my players. She is consistent with her platform and position every time. She is an asset to have on the back line.”
Jessica Dixon is doing “a great job all the way around the court,” said Burch. “She has great sets, and a mean serve.”
Sarah Ann Goodrich and Jordan Walton both have continued to improve, said Burch. “They did a god job of keeping the ball in control.”
On the front line, Brooke Rowe is doing a nice job of following the ball at the net, said Burch. “She’s getting her hands on a few blocks, and as she continues to push hard in practice she could really become a threat.”
Mollie Ballantyne also had a good game, Burch said. “Mollie keeps the court talking and plays the game well.”
The JV Lady Chargers (1-3) will host Washington & Lee on Thursday, September 10, and will host Essex on Tuesday, September 15. Junior varsity games start at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
