The Middlesex High School junior varsity football team lost 16-14 in overtime in its first regular season game on August 30 against the Rappahannock Raiders at MHS in Saluda.

The first score of the game came when the Chargers scored with 33 seconds left on the clock in the second quarter. MHS quarterback Adam Smith broke through the line and scored on a 27-yard run from scrimmage. Running back Davion Washington ran for the 2-point conversion to give MHS an 8-0 lead.

There was no more scoring until only 14 seconds remained in the game when the Raiders scored on a 10-yard quarterback run. Their 2-point conversation was good to tie the game 8-8 and send it into overtime.
