MHS JVs defeat Raiders

The Middlesex High School JV boys basketball team defeated Rappahannock 49-27, and lost 44-36 to Lancaster in games before the holiday break.
Against Rappahannock on December 20, the Chargers (3-5) picked up their third win of the season behind the strong play of Jacob Self who scored 12 points in the MHS victory.
Marquez Holmes scored 9 points, Monte Sutton and D’Angelo King had 6 points each; Carnell Bagby, 5; Trevon Hooks, 4; Andre Johnson, 3; and Brad Gills and Chris Blake, 2 apiece.
In the loss to Lancaster on December 18, Holmes was high scorer with 14 points; Sutton had 7; King, 6; Self, 4; Johnson and Hooks, 2 each; and Gills, 1.
“We are coming into district competition,” said MHS coach Jason Williams. “We won three of our last four games and I think we are ready to take on district competition.”
The Chargers will travel to King William, Friday, January 4, in their Tidewater District opener, and will host King and Queen on Tuesday, January 8. JV games start at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
