MHS hosts HRA tonight

The Middlesex High School varsity boys basketball team will host Hampton Roads Academy (HRA) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, in the John S. Clements Memorial Gym in Saluda. There will be no JV game, but the MHS girls will play HRA at 5:30 p.m. prior to the boys game.

The Chargers will visit Charles City on Friday, January 4. The JV game is at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.

Middlesex will play West Point on Tuesday, January 8, at West Point.

On December 18, Mathews defeated Middlesex 83-42.

On Wednesday, December 19, Northumberland used its speed and quickness en route to a 71-37 win over the Chargers. “We played better than the night before against Mathews but we have to learn to handle the other team’s pressure defense,” said MHS coach Jon Hatch.

Jaden Reed led MHS against Northumberland with 17 points, Mitchell Curtiss and Alex Bullock added 6 apiece, Logan Snyder had 4, Shawn Jackson 3 and Wyatt Brown 1.
