MHS homecoming is Friday

The Middlesex High School varsity football team lost two games in recent action, 41-14 to the Northampton High Yellow Jackets on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on Friday, and 48-24 to the Lancaster Red Devils on Monday. 

Northampton had 268 total yards of offense while Middlesex had 161 yards. Middlesex dominated the air with 119 passing yards, while the Yellow Jackets had 39 yards passing.

Northampton, however, dominated with a ground attack that collected 229 yards rushing, while Middlesex had only 42 yards on the ground. 

On Monday, October 1, MHS lost to Lancaster 48-24. The Chargers offense came live in this game as MHS had 280 yards of total offense with 127 in the air and 153 rushing. The defense, however, was unable to hold the strong running game of the Red Devils. Lancaster had a total of 534 total offensive yards with 461 yards on the ground.

During the second half, the Red Devils ran away with the game, scoring three rushing touchdowns on 45-yard and 55-yard runs.

The Chargers’ only score in the second half came in the fourth quarter when Snyder connected with M. Hart on a 29-yard pass play for his second touchdown on the night.

The Chargers will hold homecoming at the Syd Thrift Sports Complex on Friday, October 5, against the West Point Pointers. The game will start at 7 p.m. A homecoming parade will be held in Saluda that day at 5 p.m.
